Zelda's Story

Zelda's Story

Zelda, now in her early 20’s, was only ten when she was orphaned from both of her parents and was placed in an orphanage in Russia .At 16, alone, she was sent to Israel. At 18, a young soldier, she fell in love, but her boyfriend’s family didn’t approve of their marriage and he, heartbroken, committed suicide. Shortly later, Zelda found herself in another relationship, became pregnant and had a miscarriage. That relationship fell apart.

Wanting a fresh start, Zelda moved towns and found a job at a factory where a young supervisor took special notice of her. Zelda and the young man started dating and recently, Zelda discovered that she is pregnant. Her boyfriend and his mother pressured Zelda incessantly to have an abortion. An acquaintance gave her the “Be’ad Chaim” hotline number.

Our counselors were able to encourage her that despite her circumstances, she is not alone during this pregnancy nor after. Be’ad Chaim will provide for the material needs of her baby through their “Operation Moses” program which includes a full baby room and baby supplies until the baby’s first birthday.

Zelda is now very excited about the baby who is due this summer and again being part of a family.

The baby is due in October 2008.
