October 2025 Newsletter

Oct 01, 2025 • By Sandy Shoshani

Matthew names five women in his genealogy of Jesus: three widowed women, a prostitute and a young, unwed mother. These women were miraculously used to bring the promised Messiah. The history of our work in Be’er Sheva is also a miracle. Over twenty years ago, our then-counselor Albina watched the video “The Silent Scream” and became passionate about saving lives. Struggling to raise three teenage daughters on her own, she began to help women choose life. During the first years, Albina worked from her home, with mothers knocking on her door at all hours to receive help. As the work increased, Oxana, a young mother with five children including a new baby joined her as an assistant. At the time, Oxana’s husband was in critical condition and soon went to be with the Lord. Albina and Oxana approached the welfare department for a storage space and were given a small, rat-infested underground space, only about 1×1 meter in size. Oxana told me that she got chills when she went down into this cellar. Twice a week, they would give out gift cards, diapers and clothing from this difficult storage area. Seven years ago, the welfare department, in junction with the city of Be’er Sheva, allowed Be’ad Chaim to use a large bomb shelter as a distribution center. Although the bomb shelter was a huge step-up over the previous space, air conditioning often malfunctioned, making it impossible to stay inside amid the tough heat of the Negev. Twice the premises were burglarized, with most of the goods taken. Recently, during the massive bombing from Iran, the shelter was used as a place of refuge for residents and could not be used as our distribution center. Miraculously, last November, a generous nonprofit, FIRM (Fellowship of Israel Related Ministries) raised the funds for us to purchase a new center. We bought a kindergarten and renovated it to create a beautiful pregnancy center. Glory to God—our new center was dedicated on September 18th, 2025. In 2020, after supporting and saving nearly 800 babies, our counselor Albina retired. Today, our counselor Oxana and her team continue to diligently protect and defend hundreds of mothers and their babies.

Batel and Baby Boy Lael David

Oxana has saved the lives of over six hundred babies—every one of them a miracle. Mother Batel remembered every word of her conversations with Oxana six months ago. Oxana had been sure that Batel would abort. She considers baby Lael David’s life a miracle. Batel was a single mother, and her “older” baby was only eight months old when she discovered that she was pregnant again. She called us looking for an abortion. Batel said that she spoke with Oxana night and day and felt totally supported from the first conversation. Batel received the tools that she needed to work on her relationship with her partner and to continue her pregnancy. Two months after meeting Oxana, Batel and her partner married. Batel gives a lot of the credit for her marriage and to the birth of her son to Oxana’s caring advice. She named her son Lael, meaning “To God”, to thank God for His gift to her. Two days after her C-section birth, the bombing from Iran began and it was very difficult to run to the bomb shelter with two babies. A month after the birth, her husband was arrested for a crime which he did not commit but hasn’t yet been released. Batel says that she can cope with all these difficulties with the support of the women on the Be’ad Chaim team. “This isn’t ‘just’ help. It’s someone with whom I can share my heart, to give me advice, to cry with if I feel like I need to. This means everything.”

Our Calendar Babies

This year, we did our photo shoots for the sixteen-month 2025-2026 Calendar in Be’er Sheva. I’d like to introduce you to these adorable babies who are just a few out of the more than a hundred babies born there this year. Each of these babies received our loving support and practical help through the Operation Moses Project which provided them with a baby bed, stroller, bathtub, bed sheets, clothing and monthly gift cards to purchase necessary baby items.

September 2025 - Tamar

Tamar’s mom became free of drug addiction when she was pregnant with her first child two years ago. Not wanting to raise a second child, she attempted to abort Tamar, but the baby survived and her social worker referred her to us for support and care. Now, Tamar is her mom’s little princess.

October 2025 - Nicole

Nicole’s mom, a new immigrant from Ukraine, became pregnant with Nicole when her first baby was only a year old. She had not yet passed her exams to practice medicine in Israel. Yet, with our support, she chose to give birth to beautiful Nicole, a blessed addition to their family.

November 2025 - Tarin

Tarin’s mom, divorced, had used abortion as “birth control.” Thank God, when she chose to abort Tarin, the doctor refused, saying that five months was too late. After a referral by her social worker, our encouragement gave her the courage to choose life for her precious daughter.

December 2025 - Akram

Akram’s parents and their four children struggled financially. Another baby seemed impossible, but the support of the Operation Moses Project meant a lot. Akram means “gift” in Arabic, and that he is!

January 2026 - Achmad

Achmad’s mom and her husband had three children, and she was only twenty-one years old. She adamantly wanted to abort Achmad, but her mother opposed the idea and told her that the baby is a gift from God. Every life is a gift from God.

February 2026 - Mai

Mai’s mother and father divorced before she was born. Her mother thought, "It's so hard for me now to raise another child, needing more money, and giving me more difficulties, and an ex-husband who doesn't pay alimony, how will I manage?” After counseling, she chose life, but during the heavy missile attacks, running to a bomb shelter with her children was tough. May put a smile back on their faces.

March 2026 - Tohar

Tohar’s mother was in the middle of getting a divorce when she found herself in an unplanned pregnancy. She was out4incv of contact with her family, but Tohar’s birth brought renewed unity with her family—her father brought her to the hospital and her sister is helping with the new baby girl.

April 2026 - Omri

Omri’s mother, lonely and depressed, had a three-month-old baby when she became pregnant. Her social worker referred her to us so that we could offer her loving care and provide for Omri’s needs. Her “Irish twins” are a lot of work but bring her love and give her new hope for the future.

May 2026 - Shirel

Shirel’s mother had a three-year-old son and three-month-old daughter. She had courageously left an abusive partner and needed help. A nonprofit which helps underprivileged young women referred her to us. Shirel means “a song of God” for she brings a song of joy with every smile.

June 2026 - Mayar

A social worker referred Mayar’s mother to us shortly after she was born. Her mother suffered from post trauma and a personality disorder which required supervision. She is in a special government program helping her with daily skills. It was our joy to be able to offer our part in helping her lovingly and responsibly raise her lovely daughter Mayar.

July 2026 - Yaron

When Yaron’s father left his mother pregnant with three other children, she couldn’t imagine how she would manage. Her neighbor suggested she call us for help. Once she had the promise of practical assistance from our wonderful counselor and knew that she wouldn’t be alone, she agreed to continue the pregnancy. She told her counsellor that her mother, who has now passed away, had told her that her baby wasn’t guilty of his father’s behavior. Baby Yaron needs prayers for a heart condition.

August 2026 - Shailee Esther

Shailee Esther’s mother was forty-three years old, divorced and had two older children. Her partner refused to take responsibility for the baby. We stepped in and supplied everything she needed for Shailee. During the war, with constant missile attacks from Iran, her mom was very afraid. Shailee means “a gift for me.”

September 2026 - Adam

Adam’s mother became pregnant when his brother was less than a year old. Her husband, who lived in the West Bank under the Palestinian Authority, did not have a permit to enter Israel after the war started. Regardless of nationality, ethnicity or religion, even during a war, Be’ad Chaim shows the love of God to every person created in His image.

October 2026 - Gamar

With six other children, Gamar’s father and mother chose to abort her at fifteen weeks of pregnancy. Praise God, the doctor said that it would be too risky. The baby was named Gamar, meaning “moon” in Arabic, because she brings light into the darkness.

November 2026 - Ariana

Ariana’s mother, Rada, had just begun her studies in medicine, and the timing of the pregnancy seemed wrong. Rada went to her father for advice. He said, “Rada, keep your baby!” A few weeks later, her father died. Rada knew that she must do what he had said. Ariana’s precious new life brought Rada, her husband and the new grandmother much comfort.

December 2026 - Milan

Milan’s mother had two children, and her partner had five children by his previous wife. This pregnancy brought fear because they didn’t know how they could provide for another child. Through our help, God showed them that He is the Provider.
