Orthodox Family

Apr 01, 2019 • By Sandy Shoshani

Rinat is a young 19-year-old woman.  She comes from an Orthodox Jewish family, but when her father died two years ago the whole family left their orthodox lifestyle and traditions, except for keeping the Shabbat. When Rinat found out she was in an unplanned pregnancy, her boyfriend left her immediately and she was seriously considering having an abortion.

Thankfully Rinat heard about Be’ad Chaim and as soon as she made contact with us, one of our wonderful counselors was able to give her the love and support she needed. She has particularly valued the support her counselor was able to offer and shared that it was thanks to the counselor that she decided to keep her baby. Thanks to your generous sponsorship Rinat was able to become part of The Operation Moses Project, which supplied her with a crib and sheets, baby bath, stroller and the promise of monthly vouchers for a whole year to buy the other essentials she would need for the new baby. She is so very grateful for this help.

On Wednesday 5th December Rinat gave birth to a precious little girl weighing 3.800 Kg, she named her Tal – it’s a name from the bible meaning red/scarlet. The birth was very difficult and after many hours of labor, the medical team decided to use a Vacuum. Sadly Rinat described it as a very traumatic event. Praise God since then Rinat has recovered and feels much better. Rinat is nursing Tal and she is feeding and doing very well.

Rinat’s ex-boyfriend has taken no responsibility for his child and does not have any contact with Rinat or his daughter. Rinat is one of 11 children, most of whom are still young and live at home. Lately, Rinat felt she was being a burden to her mother, who has been very busy with her work, studies and the other children, and Rinat does not have any financial support from her family. Then, her Grandmother graciously offered for her to move in with her. Rinat is so grateful to her Grandmother who is also helping Rinat with Tal.
