February 2026 Newsletter

• By Sandy Shoshani

Only God can meet all the needs of other people, but we can all be used by God to show His love. Even the smallest acts of kindness and love can save lives. Our counselors are trained to be compassionate, caring listeners and to provide words of encouragement and understanding. Thankfully, Be’ad Chaim, through the generosity of our donors, provides a mother’s needs for her new baby through our Operation Moses Project. These material provisions of a baby bed, stroller, bathtub and monthly gift cards to purchase baby necessities give mothers financial support. Beyond this practical support, the love and respect shown by counselors carries the mothers when they feel hopeless and lets them know that they are not alone.

Young mother Shir remembers how she felt at the start of her pregnancy, how she wasn’t sure who the father was, and how she had already gone to the “termination of pregnancy committee” to get permission to have a government funded abortion. With love from our counselor, at the last minute she found the courage to change her mind, and she told her sister. Together they broke the news to their parents, who agreed to support her. Her son Raphael was born because of small acts of love and is her greatest gift. This photo of Raphael says it all! Our team, following a motto of Mother Theresa, knows that “Not all of us can do great things, but we can all do small things with great love.”

Thank you for partnering with us in many ways and showing great love.

LECTURE FOR PRE-MILTARY PREPARATORY SCHOOL

Several weeks ago, our Jerusalem counselor and distribution coordinator, Miriam, had the opportunity to share about Be’ad Chaim’s work and the impact that it made on her life. Speaking to over thirty pre-army cadets, Miriam shared how we had helped her when she was a sixteen-year-old teen choose life for her son, now fourteen years old. At the time, a doctor had flippantly said to her, “No problem, you can abort now.” This careless comment caused Miriam to evaluate the worth of her child in the womb and to come to us for help. Eight years later, when married and pregnant with monoamniotic twins (identical or semi-identical twins that share the same amniotic sac within their mother's uterus), she was told to abort one of the twins. She asked the doctor “why would I take the life of a child because he might die?” Both boys are healthy and thriving today. The cadets were deeply touched by her story and asked a lot of questions. The young men were particularly positive regarding the value of the life of the child in the womb. We praise God for the opportunity to speak to young adults who have perhaps never considered that abortion is not the best option even in difficult, complicated pregnancies.

RESPECT AND LOVE SHOWN THROUGH WORKSHOPS

In our Jerusalem office, there are monthly mothers’ meetings to give moms a chance to get to know one another, to learn important parenting skills, and to have FUN. Fun is something that many of our mothers don’t experience because their lives are so filled with the urgent, daily needs of their families. In the past few months, we’ve had some great workshops such as creating beaded jewelry, preparing sushi, learning to forgive and let go of bitterness, and recently a lecture on how to overcome grief. The workshops are varied, but the goal is always the same: to show the mothers kindness, love, respect and encouragement. The workshops include a lovely brunch. Women especially feel spoiled when there are pancakes with whipped cream. 😊 These may not seem to be great things, but we can all do these small things with great love.

THESE MOMS NEED DOUBLE THE PRAYERS

MIMI & BABY BOY LEO

Mimi has known tragedy in her life. Five years ago, when her father committed suicide, she turned to drugs for comfort. Intensive therapy helped her get clean. On October 7th, 2023, she and her boyfriend attended and survived the Nova music festival where 378 Israelis were murdered and 44 taken hostage. A year later, when Mimi discovered she was pregnant, she struggled, yet chose life. Both she and her boyfriend are emotionally disabled and receive a small government stipend. They adore their son Leo who is now a year and a half old. Mimi is deeply grateful for the emotional support she has received from our counselor, who asked her if she believes in God. She said, "I believe there's something greater than us, but I have a lot of problems with God, like why certain things happened in my life.” Please pray for their healing through the LOVE OF GOD.

SHARON & BABY GIRL LEE

We’ve shared in past newsletters about father Sahar and his wife Sharon who a year ago were blessed with their second child, baby girl Lee. Sahar was serving in reserve duty and is still recovering after his vehicle was hit by a rocket from Lebanon. He is doing better and is getting a little stronger every day, but the damage is severe, both physically and mentally. He goes to physical therapy every week to keep improving. He started working one day a week at the high tech company he had worked for before he was injured. However, he can’t do the same tasks as he did before, so they gave him a different job. He is very happy with this, because even though he can’t perform at the level he used to, he can be part of the workforce again and contribute to society and his family. Thank you for praying for continued healing for Sahar and for the more than twenty thousand Israeli soldiers who were injured since the war began on October 7th, 2023.

DOUBLE AND TRIPLE BLESSINGS

HAVA & TWINS ILAI DAVID & MIEL ESTHER

Hava is a single mom who had two school aged children prior to her pregnancy with twins. She was barely making ends meet as a bus driver. When she discovered that she was carrying twins, she was desperate for help and support. She had had one abortion because doctors told her that there was a problem with the baby. She said, “I could never do that again. I realize now that I have two living children in me.” Grateful for our financial and emotional support, she chose life and gave birth to a son, Ilai and daughter, Miel. She loves coming to our office choosing clothing for the babies.

DORIT & TWINS JOSEPH & YAKIN

Dorit had three small children when she discovered that she was pregnant with twins. She and her husband were excited but knew that they needed support and help. In October, she gave birth at only thirty-three weeks to son Joseph and daughter Yakin. Because they are small, feeding is slow and frequent. Dorit tries to sleep when the babies sleep and appreciates prayers for strength with her quiver full of five children.

TALI & TRIPLETS ELIA, HALELI & NEVO

Tali, twenty-three years old, opened her own makeup and hairdressing business. When she found out that she was pregnant, she wanted to have an abortion because she wasn’t yet married and didn’t have financial security. This was her first pregnancy. However, when she did an ultrasound, she was told that she was carrying triplets, and that each one had a heartbeat! At first, she was deeply shocked, but her conscience wouldn’t let her abort three babies. Her boyfriend was ultra surprised and joyously decided to marry her! Triplet sons Elia and Nevo and daughter Haleli were born in November and are all doing well. We provided them with three baby beds, complete with bumpers and sheets, a double stroller, a single stroller, and a bath. We will also help them out with baby clothes. Tali is overwhelmed by her triple blessing, all the work she has, and the generosity of Be’ad Chaim.

NAOMI & TRIPLETS YEHOSHUA, YAACOV & DVORA

Naomi and her husband live in Jerusalem in a small apartment together with their three children. They are an Orthodox Jewish family. Naomi is a teacher for children with special needs and her husband studies at a yeshiva. He tries to add a little to their income by giving private lessons, but this does not bring a stable income. When Naomi found herself pregnant again, they were happy, but slightly worried. They trust in God that things will work out. However, during the check-ups, they discovered that Nechama was expecting not one, but three babies! The doctors advised them to have one or maybe even two babies aborted. Most doctors in Israel advise having at least one baby removed in the case of triplets. Naomi and her husband refused to abort any of the babies. They had no idea how to manage both practically and financially, because their family would double in just a few months, but they were firm in their decision. In August, Joshua, Jacob and Deborah were born and have been flooded with their baby needs by Be’ad Chaim much to the relief and joy of Naomi and her husband.

SAMIA & TWINS ISRAEL & EFRATA

Samia is a married Christian from Eritrea who had four children before the birth of her twins. Doctors had wanted to remove the smaller of two twins from the womb, but Samia refused to take the life of her child. She thanks God for baby Israel who is now a year old and healthy! He’s only half of his sister Efrata’s weight, but he’s alive and dearly loved.
