July 2026 Newsletter

• By Sandy Shoshani

In 2 Corinthians 2, the Apostle Paul writes “we are the aroma of Messiah rising up to God.” To those who are perishing, this message can feel overwhelming, but to those who accept His love, it is a life-giving fragrance. For a woman facing a crisis pregnancy, news of an unexpected baby can initially feel like the former—confounding, terrifying, and deeply disruptive. Yet, when she chooses life and holds her newborn for the very first time, a beautiful transformation occurs. That new life brings a joy that changes everything.

God even designed a physical miracle to reinforce this bond. Scientific research shows that the natural scent of a newborn baby immediately triggers the release of dopamine and oxytocin (the "love hormone") in a parent’s brain. This biological phenomenon deepens emotional connection and inspires nurturing care. That sweet newborn scent is quite literally God’s way of helping a mother fall completely in love with her child.

In this month's newsletter, you will read heartfelt letters of thanks to Be’ad Chaim from mothers who once could not imagine how they would survive having a baby. Today, they are head-over-heels in love with their children.

Each of these women found the courage to choose life and raise her child with dignity because she did not have to walk that path alone. You are a vital part of her story. I’m deeply grateful for your partnership, which provided the resources, care and hope that made these beautiful families possible.

May you rejoice in the fragrance of God’s love.

Mothers Meet for Creative Encouragement

Every month, when the mothers and their babies arrive for our meeting, I am overwhelmed with gratitude that we have been able to support so many new lives. This month, as mothers from a wide variety of ethnic groups and languages sat together to create beautiful, beaded jewellery, I marvelled at God’s grace in allowing us the privilege of impacting so many lives. This craft project is simply a way to encourage these women, providing a relaxed space to share their stories, find encouragement, and build lasting friendships. During the meeting, many of the new mothers expressed their deep love, joy and thankfulness for our help over the course of their pregnancies and after birth.

Nura and Baby Girl Miriam

Although Nura’s difficult childhood taught her that people could not always be trusted, Nura has chosen to put past betrayals behind her and to look forward. She regularly sends photos and notes to her counsellor to share the beautiful moments of her life, proving that love and trust can be rebuilt on one's own terms.

She wrote, “My daughter Miriam’s pure, unconditional love has shown me that I possess strength that I never knew I had.”

Yafit and Her Children Ori and Shani

Thank you for your guidance and support over the past two years! I have no words to explain how much you have helped me! Thanks to you, my children have a bed to sleep in, diapers, formula, etc., and sometimes I get new sets of clothes. I thank you and the entire organization for everything. From a confused, stressed, and anxious woman, I have become a stable, thoughtful, and happy mother of two! Keep doing your mission. Truly a sacred work. We will not forget you....

Annie and Twins Or and Sivan

Annie is a foreign worker from Nepal who discovered the kindness of Israelis when she became pregnant with twins. In Hebrew, native-born Israelis are called “Sabras”, named thus after the Hebrew word for the prickly pear cactus. The term describes the local spirit: a little tough and prickly on the outside, but soft and sweet at the core. Tali, Annie’s manager, is a perfect example of this. When Tali discovered Annie was pregnant with twins, she took her under her wing. She connected Annie with Be’ad Chaim, helped her with groceries, provided essential items, and even threw a wonderful first birthday party for the twins, Or and Sivan.

Annie’s message to her counsellor shows her gratitude:

"It hasn’t been easy to go up and down to the bomb shelter with twins. The babies are now a year old, and Tali has been like a mother to me—she even made this fabulous birthday party for them. Here’s the photo!

As the year of your help comes to an end, I want to thank you for your support, making things work out when it could have been so hard with two babies. Thank you so much for all you’ve given me and for understanding me. May God give you much strength, and may there be peace for Israel. I’d love to stay in touch. I’ve been so blessed by your love and kindness."

Ziva and Baby Girl Liv

Ziva’s family was forever changed when her husband, a policeman, survived the October 7th terrorist invasion of their town Ofakim, a traumatic event in which many of his fellow officers were killed. He left the force and struggled to find work, plunging their home into a tense atmosphere and leaving Ziva feeling incredibly isolated. When she discovered she was facing an unplanned pregnancy, she had very mixed feelings. One day while scrolling online, she found our post and decided to reach out. As she walked into our Be’er Sheva center, she was immediately welcomed with open arms, a listening ear and the practical and emotional support she desperately needed. Ziva says her counselor became "like a best friend, like a mother who truly wants the best for me." This unwavering support gave her the courage to continue her pregnancy.

Her beautiful baby girl, Liv, was born in February with stunning blue eyes, and her older children instantly fell in love with holding and kissing their new baby sister. Thanks to our generous donors and the Operation Moses Project, Ziva received a crib with sheets and bumpers, a stroller, a baby bath, and monthly vouchers for a full year to cover diapers, formula, and everyday essentials. She also loves visiting our center to pick out gorgeous clothes for Liv.

Ziva wrote:

Today, when I left the support center after our conversation, I cried from joy!! You are my safe place, a place of comfort in my heart. I thank you for your listening ear and for being who you are. You are so special and understand me in my most difficult moments. You stick with me all the way and your encouraging words always uplift me. Even during the birth of my precious daughter Liv, your voice echoed in my heart. You always remind me with confidence that there is a BIG GOD in heaven!! Precious one, I send you a huge thanks for walking with me through everything. You are an amazing person with a huge heart who strengthens me. THAAAAANK YOU!!!!

Tobi and Triplets Benjamin, Chaim and Isaac

Tobi got a lot of help in the first months following the birth of her triplets Benjamin, Chaim and Isaac. Social services gave her a cleaner several times a week, and the religious community to which she belongs organized meal trains and helped with feeding the triplets. As they grew bigger, their big sisters loved to play with them. They had a lot of fun together. Her oldest daughter is just six years old, and the others are five and three years old now. They always want to help Tobi: to give the triplets bottles, wash them in the bath and play with them. The sisters sing and dance for them and show them picture books.

When the triplets were six months old, Tobi put the babies in daycare so she could return to work. Her husband studies in the Yeshiva (a place of Talmudic study) and only receives a small stipend. She has a degree in education and finds the close relationship between the triplets fascinating to observe and a real joy. Tobi thanks us:

I have no words to thank you for all the help and support that you gave me. The gift card covering the cost of basics for THREE BABIES was such a lifeline in meeting the needs of the triplets. Thanks to you, they always had everything they needed.

May you always be blessed with plenty. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Gilda and Baby Boy Francis Xavier

Gilda grew up in Kenya and studied agriculture at university, consequently coming to Israel to continue her studies. During this period, she began a relationship with a student from Zambia. She became pregnant but never told him. Pregnant and alone, Gilda decided to seek refugee status in Israel. She worked as a cleaner in Tel Aviv until the company closed during the war in February. She moved to Eilat where she met another Kenyan woman whom we had helped. As the time for the birth approached, Gilda traveled to Jerusalem to a lower-cost Christian hospital for a checkup. When she arrived, she was told that she needed emergency C-Section surgery. Gilda had saved over ten thousand shekels but didn’t expect surgical costs. Be’ad Chaim helped subsidize the hospital bills.

Gilda wrote to her counselor Alison:

Good morning mum

All is well, I'm healing and the boy is also doing well, he's growing. Secondly, I'm getting some help from some social workers. I also gave them your contact since they wanted to get in touch.

Thirdly, the clothes were so beautiful and fitting, I really appreciate the kindness. Here’s Francis Xavier – the clothes fit perfectly.

God bless you abundantly. Only God can reward you and your group for what you're doing, Be blessed and may you never lack.

God Will Help Me!

Alina is a devoted mother of four navigating deeply challenging personal circumstances. When she first reached out to the hotline, she felt completely overwhelmed, expressing that she had no physical or emotional strength left and was considering an abortion. Although their phone connection was poor, counsellor Oxana provided gentle support through text messages. Oxana shared her own deeply personal story, recalling how doctors had advised her to abort her firstborn son due to fears he would be born with a disability, but he is now thriving in medical school. Through her own experience, Oxana reminded Alina that every child is a precious gift with a unique purpose, and that we cannot know what the future holds for them. Moved by this message of hope and compassion, Alina found the strength and peace she needed to continue her pregnancy.

- Tomorrow, I have an appointment for an abortion. On the one hand, I’m afraid. On the other hand, I don’t know what else to do.

- Okay, Oxana, I decided not to go tomorrow to the abortion so I will be happy to get your help because without it I really don’t know how I can manage.

- In the end, I didn’t go.

- Because yesterday, you strengthened me and I thought about it all night and I didn’t have the heart to go.

- God will help me and that’s it.

Alina is now eighteen weeks pregnant and very excited about what God has in store for the baby whom she is carrying. Oxana continues to encourage and support her.
