May 2026 Newsletter

• By Sandy Shoshani

Even in the darkest times, new life brings light and hope. Despite the missiles and sirens, our team has worked tirelessly to ensure pregnant women and new mothers are able to provide their babies’ basic needs. Some mothers suffered loss of homes and property because of missile attacks. Others suffer from personal battles and violence in their homes. Still others suffer from the battleground of their minds. Whatever the situation, we do our utmost to protect and defend the lives of both mother and child. Your generosity turns terror into safety, bringing tangible aid and renewed hope to mothers across Israel.

Thank you for standing with us to protect these vulnerable lives. Your care and support provide comfort when it is needed the most. “How blessed is he who considers the helpless.” (Psalm 41:1)

A FACE OF HOPE

In our Be’er Sheva office, there is a safe room where mothers, neighbors and staff can find refuge. Here is Tohar, the cover baby of our 2026 calendar, now standing strong and confident despite war. Her face is the face of the hope of the people of Israel. Even in the face of missiles and war, The Future Hope of Israel burns bright.

SAPIR & BABY BOY OSHRI

Sapir, a young single mother, lives in Eilat with her two sons. Her baby Oshri celebrated his first birthday on January 30. His father, a Tanzanian, doesn’t live with them, but he visits every day. Sapir’s sister, Nuriel Dubin, was killed in a Hezbollah rocket attack on March 24, 2026 in the Upper Galilee. Nuriel was engaged to be married in September. April 13th would have been her 27th birthday. Thank you for praying that Sapir and her family find comfort and have the strength to go on with their lives after this tragedy.

ANASTASIA AND BABY BOY RAPHAEL DAVID

Anastasia, the divorced mother of two small children, shared her experience of a missile attack in Arad, a city where many homes were destroyed and lives were lost. Be’ad Chaim offered her love, compassion and a gift to help make her life a bit easier.

"I want to tell you about Raphael David. He is already one year and four months old, walking and running everywhere. He is a very curious and happy child who loves to explore the world.

Raphael David started going to daycare at 4 months old, and he developed wonderfully there.

He knows how to say mommy, daddy, grandma, pacifier, and bottle.

When Raphael David turned 9 months old, his father and I separated. He does keep in touch with them, but not on a daily basis, so I am currently both the mom and the dad. It is very hard, especially because I am not currently working due to mental disability from PTSD.

We moved in with my mother for now, until we get back on our feet and find a small apartment that can hold a lot of love. To my dismay, because of the war, a missile fell in our town of Arad, and it was the most frightening moment I ever experienced as a mother. The alarms sounded, and we had just entered the bomb shelter when there was a wild, loud boom that caused the whole bomb shelter to shake. It was filled with smoke and dust and people didn’t stop screaming. In the midst of this craziness, I stood there and hugged my two children like I’d never hugged them before. For a moment, I found myself saying goodbye to my two little chicks. Thank God that there was no damage to our bodies or our property... But the soul remains wounded for life. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your help and support.

ADRIANA AND BABY BOY AVDIEL

Adriana, a courageous woman from South America, moved to Israel to build a life with her Israeli partner, only to find herself in a dangerous relationship. With nowhere else to turn, she and her baby boy, Avdiel, found safety and hope at our mothers’ home, eventually finding the strength to rebuild in Arad. Tragically, their new freedom was shattered when a missile attack destroyed their home. Despite losing everything, Adriana sent a moving note of gratitude, reflecting the incredible resilience she continues to show with our support.

Many thanks to Lilach Center [Be’ad Chaim’s pregnancy centers] for all of your support for me. The Lilach Center is simply a part of me. You were with me in one of the most difficult periods of my life, when I was about to give birth and I didn’t know where to live, you were there for me. You are messengers of God. You continue to support me in this very difficult season when my house was destroyed by missiles. Thank you, Lilach Center. Thank you for all your acts of kindness and support, and many thanks to my precious counselor Yael. I will never forget how much you helped me. May God bless you.

OLIVIA AND ADEL

Olivia was planning her daughter Adel’s second birthday when her world suddenly imploded. Missile strikes destroyed her rented apartment, leaving her with no home and a demand for rent from her landlord. Seeking safety from the war in Ukraine, Olivia had come to Israel, only to face further crisis. While her parents remain in Russian-occupied Ukraine, Be’ad Chaim stepped in, using donor funds to help cover the rent and living expenses for Olivia and toddler Adel, who are now evacuated in a hotel near the Dead Sea.

JASMINE AND BABY BOY ADAM

Eighteen-year-old Jasmine is navigating motherhood alone as she raises her eight-month-old son, Adam. Their world was literally shattered when a missile struck their southern home, destroying their windows. In that terrifying moment, she turned to our counselor, Oxana, for support. Be’ad Chaim provided immediate funds for baby supplies and emergency needs. Jasmine and Adam are now safe in a hotel, waiting for their home to be repaired.

YAFA & BABY GIRL GEFEN

Yafa (39), a Jerusalem realtor, saw her fulfilling life demolished after surviving the October 7th Nova festival massacre. Left with deep trauma, she became unable to work or leave home alone, relying on therapy and government support. While struggling to heal, she became pregnant, only for her partner to abandon her. Now alone, pregnant, and traumatized, Social Services connected her to our Operation Moses program. We immediately welcomed her, providing needed support and stability for her and her unborn daughter. On February 2nd, on Yafa’s own birthday, she gave birth to her precious baby girl. It was a difficult delivery, and she had been in the hospital for four days already before baby Gefen finally came into the world. Yafa was so happy to finally hold her precious baby. Yafa’s ex-partner expressed his wish to come and visit his daughter in the hospital. In the end, he didn’t show up. He has now visited his daughter twice, but he is not part of Gefen’s life. Yafa wants to start the legal process so she can receive child support from him. Since February 28th, when the war with Iran started, it has not been easy for Yafa. Thankfully, she has a safe room in her apartment and doesn’t need to go out of her house to find shelter. But the alarms remind her of October 7th, and she is trying very hard not to be pulled back into that experience. Gefen helps her take her mind off things, and Yafa says that she is the sweetest girl imaginable. The help from Be’ad Chaim has been a beacon of light after going through such a dark period. The furniture and the monthly vouchers are a gift from heaven for her. Your continued prayers for Yafa and Gefen are appreciated very much. May her precious baby Gefen help her to overcome the trauma that she has experienced.

ISABELLE AND BABY GIRL ELMA

Like many, Isabelle’s life in Be’er Sheva was turned upside down when missile strikes damaged her home. A mother of six, she faces immense pressure, navigating PTSD from a violent past marriage while caring for her three-month-old daughter, Elma. Due to strict travel restrictions, her partner often lives in the West Bank, leaving her to manage alone, including racing to bomb shelters with the children during air raids. Despite the trauma of a high-risk, unexpected pregnancy and the fear of a sixth C-section, Isabelle is now filled with joy that she chose life, cherishing her beautiful baby girl, who is adored by her older siblings—especially her fifteen-year-old sister who loves finally having a new sister to join her four brothers. Be’ad Chaim is proudly providing financial support to this resilient family during these challenging times.

ADI & BABY GIRL ELIOR

At just twenty years old, Adi has navigated a challenging year as a young mother. Following a difficult period where her husband’s drug addiction caused him to stay out all night, Adi found refuge with her mother in northern Israel for eight months. While initiating divorce proceedings, she agreed to give her husband another chance after he claimed to be sober, employed, and living not far from her mother. Currently, the couple is doing better, and Adi has secured a temporary disability allowance. She describes her baby girl, Elior, as a happy, social, and energetic child who has just started standing up. She celebrated her first birthday several weeks ago with a small party. Social services offered subsidized daycare, but Adi is choosing to keep her daughter at home for now, with hopes of finishing high school in the future.
Adi is grateful that she found us when she needed help and wrote this letter:

"I just want to write a few words to say thank you. At a time when I felt so uncertain and life was hard, the assistance you gave me was a real light in the darkness. In addition to the practical help, I felt that you believed in me and wanted the best for me. This feeling gave me the strength to go forward and not give up on myself and to focus on building a better future for my daughter and me.

Thanks to your support I was able to stand on my own two feet, to be strong and to face the future with more confidence and hope. It’s amazing that there are people who choose to help others with all their hearts. Your help was life-changing for me—and I am the living proof of this. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart."
