October 2026 Newsletter

• By Sandy Shoshani

In biblical times as well as today, children have often been viewed as a disruption or burden. Yet, more than two thousand years ago, a group of mothers excitedly brought their children to meet Jesus. The children were thrilled to see the man they had heard so much about, but Jesus’ own disciples turned them away with anger and impatience. Grieved by his friends' lack of compassion, Jesus welcomed the children with open arms and an open heart, hugging and blessing them.

The instinct to protect our children is deeply rooted in motherhood. Yet today, many pregnant women face intense pressure, criticism, and shame that push them toward abortion. I remember a young woman who came to us completely set on ending her pregnancy. During our conversation, she mentioned, "I stopped smoking and drinking." When we asked her why, she replied, "Because it’s not good for the baby." In that moment, she realized with surprise that she was already instinctively protecting the very child she felt she had no choice but to abort.

Like Jesus, we welcome these conflicted mothers and celebrate their children. Thanks to your generosity, over five hundred babies have been received into their mothers’ arms this year, with support from Be’ad Chaim. May God bless you for your partnership in embracing these little ones!

A Summer of Blessings:

100 Babies Born in 3 Months!

As we prepared our annual report, we found that over the past year, nearly 3,000 women reached out to our hotline, and nearly 2,000 women spoke with their local counselor. To connect with even more women facing crisis pregnancies, we have actively expanded our social media advertising.

Our efforts brought incredible blessings this summer. From June to August, exactly 100 babies were born!

  • June: 27 babies
  • July: 42 babies
  • August: 31 babies

In this newsletter, we are overjoyed to share a sampling of these precious summer newborns. Each photo and birthdate stands as a beautiful testimony to the value of every child—wonderfully crafted by the hand of God, with each of their days already written in His book.

HOME FOR PREGNANT AND NEW MOTHERS

In August, we marked the meaningful conclusion of another season providing a home for pregnant women and new mothers. Over the past twenty years, our housing ministry has taken many forms—spanning various cities, programs, and apartment sizes. Our most recent home was a beautiful five-room apartment in a scenic area of Ashkelon, just a short distance from the sea. Over its five years of operation, this refuge welcomed sixteen women, most of whom stayed alone with their newborns or older children.

The mothers came from all walks of life, including several Muslim women seeking sanctuary from immediate danger. Managing the home brought both profound rewards and significant challenges. While many women treated the space with care, there were also difficult moments involving broken boundaries and emergency interventions. Through it all, it was a true masterclass in love and patience—especially for our dedicated counselor, Yael, who managed the home with unwavering faith. Despite the obstacles, this apartment was a gift from God, providing a vital sanctuary for sixteen mothers in their moment of greatest need.

The Gardens of Life

The summer heat has faded, opening a gentle new planting season in the Gardens of Life. This month, we resumed planting trees in memory of babies who were never held, including those lost to miscarriage, abortion, or infant death.

We hope this act of remembrance brings comfort, healing, and closure to families who have lost a baby. You are welcome to plant your tree personally during your time in Israel, or you can request that our prayer hostess, Laurel, plant it for you with prayer and care. To honor your baby, every planting includes a beautiful certificate ready for their name to be inscribed. Plantings by appointment: info@beadchaim.org.il
