ORIT AND BABY BOY ORI:

Aug 17, 2020 • By Be'ad Chaim

Ori (having the meaning of "give", "grant" or "bestow", and taken from Deut. 1:13) was born on Aug. 4, 2020, weighing a whopping 4.5 kg. For a first baby, it was a very difficult delivery and almost resulted in an emergency C-section. Orit's labor was induced and she received an epidural shot, but it didn't have an effect because it wasn't properly done. In addition, Ori went into fetal distress because the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, causing his head to get stuck in the birth canal. Thanks to the attending midwife's skill and the Lord watching over her, she was able to deliver her larger-than-average baby naturally. Ori is a sweet child. He already lets Orit sleep for 6 hours undisturbed, and as you can see by the photo, he is always smiling. He doesn't cry, but only whimpers when he's hungry. Orit is breastfeeding him, and so far, it is working out well. She loves being a mom and is bonding well with her newborn.

Orit was 23 and single when she discovered her pregnancy. Her then-boyfriend (who is paying child support to his ex-wife) did not want any more children, so when Orit told him about it, he bolted. Orit, who receives a disability allowance, had held a part time job but quit it just before the coronavirus hit Israel. Out of work, pregnant and without support from anyone, she scoured the internet to find an abortion provider. She happened upon Be'ad Chaim and thought to come in and see what could be done for her. She decided to continue her pregnancy because of the material and non-material support she would be able to receive and the hope she now sees for her life. She has received a baby bed with sheets, a bathtub and a stroller, in addition to clothes for her newborn. She will be getting monthly support for the coming year as well, and expressed her relief on a number of occasions at how much the assistance eases her mind. Her ex-boyfriend knows that he has a son but he isn't interested in him at all and hasn't come to visit. Orit is just as happy being THE parental figure in Ori's life. While still pregnant, she commented that this baby will give some order and meaning to her life. Please pray for this young mom.
