Sandy's Devotional

• By Sandy Shoshani

Sandy’s Devotional:

The Lord is exalted over all the nations,
    his glory above the heavens.

 Who is like the Lord our God,
    the One who sits enthroned on high,

 who stoops down to look
    on the heavens and the earth?

 He raises the poor from the dust
    and lifts the needy from the ash heap;

 he seats them with princes,
    with the princes of his people.

 He settles the childless woman in her home
    as a happy mother of children.

Praise the Lord.   Psalm 113:4-9

This Psalm beautifully declares the glory of God above the earth and the heavens. Though none can compare to His majesty, He never overlooks the most vulnerable, the weakest, or the neediest among us. God hears the silent anguish of a broken heart. Of all the painful trials of the human experience, the Scripture highlights the quiet sorrow of the childless woman.
God sees the pain of every grieving parent—those sitting in the dust of heartbreak, and those carrying the heavy burdens of infertility, abortion, or tragic loss. He is deeply moved by the struggle of women in crisis pregnancies and desires to bring them the joy of motherhood. God’s heart is always to restore hope to those who have lost a child.
There are many paths through which God can bring a new beginning to those who yearn for motherhood, whether through the gift of biological children, adoption and fostering, or the opportunity to mentor and love the children in their community. Our faithful, loving God sees every tear and hears every cry. He is able to bring beauty and happiness out of the deepest ashes.
This Sukkot, during the Feast of Tabernacles, may God draw you close into His sheltering presence and fill your heart with a new song of joy.
